You can learn so much by reading, don't you know? The blog, Window on a Texas Landscape , is written by freelance author Sheryl Smith-Rodgers. In recent blog entries, Smith-Rodgers provided a link to a great resource, the Reverchon Naturalist, which is a TX publication of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) which is a division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Her recent article "Malta star-thistle: Every Master Naturalist's Nightmare and Yours, Too" is in the current issue of the newsletter which you can read here . Each state has a link but few states have a newsletter. Here's how to find the newsletter for your state. The Oklahoma site is http://www.ok.nrcs.usda.gov/ , the Kansas site is http://www.ks.nrcs.usda.gov/ , etc. You just replace the abbreviation in the web address (in this example, ok or ks) with the abbreviation for your state.
