JUDGED ART SHOW As part of Muskogee Garden Club Daffodil Day on Mar 28, 2015, this art contest will accept daffodil-themed art entries in any media. All ages welcome. No email submissions. Thomas-Foreman Historic Home In order to qualify, submissions must be delivered to Three Rivers Museum by March 21 with the artist's contact information. Daffodil Day at the Thomas-Foreman Home will include a tea provided by Muskogee Garden Club, a plant sale provided by Muskogee County Master Gardeners and a museum tour. Stop by and see us! Start at Three Rivers Museum, 220 Elgin, Muskogee. Tour the museum and take the trolley to the Thomas Foreman Historic Home -$10. There is very limited parking at the T-F Home but you can also go directly there - 1419 West Okmulgee AV. Heavenly Bamboo We are growing over 200 plants to sell at a March 29th plant sale during Muskogee's Daffodil Day. The event is a joint project of Muskogee Garden Club and Three Rivers Museum /Thomas Foreman Historic Home and it will run from 10 to 3 that Saturday. Castor Bean The Muskogee Garden Club's net proceeds from the plant sale and tea will help fund the horticulture scholarships the club offers to students who want to work in the field. For the modest price of  $10, the tour begins at Three Rivers Museum, includes a tour there and a trolley ride to the  Thomas-Foreman Historic Home  for all the festivities. For $5 attendees can go straight to the Thomas-Foreman Home. They will get a home tour, enjoy the 1500 daffodils we planted, snack on home made goodies and shop the plant sale. In zone 7 USA it is time to put spring blooming flower bulbs into the ground. This year I ordered some sale daffodils from Cherry Creeek Daffodils for our own garden, but did a large order (750 bulbs) from Colorblends for a few nonprofit organizations. We are adding several hundred daffodils to public spaces for the March 29, 2014 Daffodil Day in Muskogee at the Thomas-Foreman Home and at a new city garden.  Daffodil Brackenhurst Last year was our first year trying out the event and it was a stormy, windy day but we had 50 visitors and since no one could be outside we thought that was pretty good. Muskogee Garden Club had planted 1,000 daffodil bulbs and this planting will bring the total to 1,500. Daffodil planting season is here and it is time to shop the stores or place your mail order for daffodil bulbs to plant in October and November. The American Daffodil Society website ( www.daffodilusa.org ) has tips for successful bulb selection. 1) Order early - This is not a marketing gimmick. Early orders generally get the pick of the crop. Your chances are better of getting exactly what you order with no surprises. 2) Read the Fine Print - Check the guarantee. Terms vary widely. Will they replace or refund in case of problems. Are the bulbs guaranteed true to name? 3) Compare Prices - Prices are not the same. Our opinion is that you do get what you pay for. Cheap bulbs are generally cheap for a reason. Smaller bulbs generally give smaller and fewer flowers. If it seems too good to be true, it may well be! 4) Be Aware - Some general bulb merchants routinely change bulb names and some may even substitute varieties without your knowledge. The Muskogee Phoenix Thu Mar 21, 2013, 10:11 PM CDT Bright yellow and white daffodils are popping up all around the historic Thomas-Foreman Home in Muskogee. They line the front and sides of the home with miniature daffodils blooming in the space between the sidewalk and the fence. The flowers are accents to the other pink, yellow and white flowering bushes and other plants in the yard. Guests can see them all and have a spot of tea with sandwiches and cookies at Daffodil Day, courtesy of Muskogee Garden Club. Members planted 1,000 bulbs in November preparing for Daffodil Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
